Company Designs iPad Mobile App, “Co-Pilot,” to Better Serve Customers; Implements Digital Field Initiative

OREM, UT–(Marketwire – Oct 10, 2011) – Pinnacle Security, a leader in the North American residential security market, today announced the results of the company’s digital field initiative. A majority of its sales force was equipped with Apple iPads during the 2011 sales season. The technology available through iPads allowed security consultants to be more effective than previous years.

With the company-designed mobile application, Co-Pilot, Pinnacle consultants were able to record customer responses, log prospects for later visits and input customer comments into the system for more targeted and effective follow-up. Co-Pilot allowed consultants to quickly customize systems to customer specifications, schedule technicians and determine customer eligibility for offers in real-time.

Field office managers were also provided iPads for scheduling, improving speed of service and minimizing wait time for customers.

“Our digital initiative — including the iPad and corresponding applications — helped us maximize our capabilities and provided the best possible experience for our security consultants, technicians, corporate employees, and most of all, our customers,” said Stuart Dean, vice president of corporate communications for Pinnacle Security. “Co-Pilot and the iPad streamlined our customer response effort, allowing us to achieve rapid same-day alarm system installation on more than 90 percent of our orders.”

Consultants and customers used the iPad for other applications and websites, including Pinnacle Security’s YouTube channel, to help demonstrate features and benefits of various alarm components.

“This technology dramatically sped up the time I could provide service to customers each day,” said Adam Webb, area manager for Pinnacle Security in St. Louis, Mo. “With Co-Pilot, I could customize customers’ systems to their desired specifications on the spot and display videos explaining a system function in a few easy steps. Customers love seeing that we are continually innovating and improving.”

More than 70 percent of Pinnacle Security consultants used the Co-Pilot application this year, most on iPad, with a few on iPhone. Plans for next year call for 100 percent of consultants to be digital at Pinnacle. Additional advancements are also planned for 2012 to help teams be more effective in the field.

Lawsuit Cites Fraud, Conspiracy and Breach of Contract as Basis for Litigation

OREM, UT–(Marketwire – Aug 23, 2011) – Pinnacle Security, a leader in the residential security industry, today announced it has filed a lawsuit against former regional manager, Graham Wood; former senior regional office coordinator, Kim Wyatt; industry insider, Jack Inbar; and their new company, Canada-based Titan Alarm. The basis of Pinnacle’s lawsuit is that Wood, Inbar and Wyatt conspired together to build a new company unlawfully using Pinnacle resources and in violation of contractual and fiduciary duties.

“Pinnacle believes in robust, legitimate competition,” said Kelly Walker, CEO, Pinnacle Security. “However, Pinnacle will vigorously protect its interests against those who seek to unfairly and unlawfully harm Pinnacle’s business. We believe Wood and others have intentionally deceived and defrauded Pinnacle, and we will take all necessary steps to protect our company against such malicious action. We look forward to telling our story and presenting our evidence in court.”

The complaint alleges that while under contract with and receiving compensation from Pinnacle for the 2011 sales season, Wood, along with Inbar and Wyatt, was conspiring to begin a new, competitive venture, Titan Alarm. Additionally, these individuals conspired to recruit Pinnacle sales representatives, in effect, using Pinnacle facilities and resources to foot the start-up cost of their new company while attempting to paralyze Pinnacle.

In addition to salary and benefits paid to Wood through his contract, Pinnacle had also expended significant money and resources into Wood’s sales region, while during the same period, Wood and others worked to build Titan Alarm. Based on these and other unlawful and inappropriate actions by the defendants, Pinnacle has asserted numerous claims including fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, conspiracy, breach of contract, interference with economic relations, and conversion.
A court date has not been assigned at this time.

Holds Drive for Security Consultant, Customer Contributions

OREM, UT – August 8, 2011 – Pinnacle Security, a leader in the North American residential security market, today announced it has held the initial fundraising activity for its partnership with Going Beyond Borders, an NGO committed to providing relief to individuals and families in Kenya. Pinnacle Security dedicated Aug. 5-6 to the effort, inviting customers to make donations and allowing Pinnacle’s security consultants to contribute commissions to benefit the organization.

Pinnacle’s partnership with Going Beyond Borders is a significant part of the Pinnacle Security: Securing Hope philanthropic initiative. The first objective of the partnership is to build a new hospital in Kakamega, Kenya.

Going Beyond Borders, in partnership with Pinnacle Security as well as other organizations, has committed to raise $200,000 to fund the hospital. Once the financing goal is met, Pinnacle teams will accompany Going Beyond Borders to participate in the actual construction of the facility.

In order to illustrate the need for the new hospital and encourage donations, Pinnacle has produced the following video:

“Going Beyond Borders has all the right elements in place to effect a substantive improvement in the lives of people in western Kenya,” said Stuart Dean, Vice President, Corporate Communications, Pinnacle Security. “With the closest medical facility several hours away, this hospital will serve 4,000 people that currently have no other access to any health care. We are pleased for the opportunity to help.”

Going Beyond Borders board member Ruth Oniang’o, a former councilwoman in Kenya, has donated the land needed for the hospital.

“I know first-hand the tremendous need this hospital will serve. I have personally experienced the transport of individuals whose relatively minor injuries became life threatening due to the distance that had to be travelled to see a doctor,” said Oniang’o. “I am pleased to help oversee the fundraising and am excited to see it come to fruition.”

Additional fundraising activities will include a 5K run, held by Pinnacle Security November 12. To keep apprised of events and ways you can participate in the building of the hospital, please visit Pinnacle Security on youtube and the company’s website at www.pinnaclesecurity/charity.php.

Project Advances Company’s Securing Hope Initiative to Provide Support and Aid to Those in Need

OREM, UT–(Marketwire – Jul 22, 2011) – Pinnacle Security, a leader in the North American residential security market, today announced that its Wichita, Kan. office partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help to complete two new homes in the local area. Part of Pinnacle’s Securing Hope philanthropic initiative, more than 20 of the company’s security consultants gave their time to the project as they built framing, installed roofing and laid flooring in the two homes, alongside other volunteers.
“As a company, we focus on giving people peace of mind by making them more secure,” said Stuart Dean, Vice President of Corporate Communications, Pinnacle Security. “The incredible work Habitat for Humanity does, providing decent, safe, and affordable housing to families in need, is a natural fit with our mission and we’re proud so many of our consultants wanted to get involved.”

Pinnacle Security’s Securing Hope initiative directs resources to various causes in the U.S. and abroad. As part of the program, Pinnacle offices around the country devote a day of service in their communities and connect with local United Way centers, as well as other similar organizations, to identify areas of need. In this case, United Way had a request for volunteers from Habitat for Humanity, and Pinnacle’s Wichita office was ready to help.

“The Habitat for Humanity program is about giving a hand to a family that is willing to work toward their goal of affordable homeownership,” said Laurie Walker, Acting Executive Officer and Operations Officer, Wichita Habitat for Humanity. “Wichita Habitat for Humanity is grateful to the Pinnacle volunteers who gave of their time and talent during one of our recent build events. Their participation will help further our mission to end poverty housing in our community by providing decent, affordable housing for people in need.”

Regional Manager for Pinnacle Security, McKay Selph said, “There is a strong culture of service at Pinnacle and I was pleased and touched by the team’s response to this opportunity. They were very enthusiastic, and worked in groups all over the houses, putting in windows, roofing, laying flooring and framing among other things. It was a wonderful experience to deliver something so fundamental and tangible to families in need.”

Pinnacle offices have participated in projects across the country, working with charitable organizations to help people in need. Internationally, Pinnacle has sponsored Sustain Haiti and Going Beyond Borders and has helped build homes in Honduras over the past year. Each project is identified and completed through Pinnacle’s philanthropic initiative, Securing Hope.

July and August Peak Season for Burglaries as Families Travel and Homes Are Left Unattended

OREM, UT–(Marketwire – Jul 12, 2011) – Pinnacle Security, a leader in the North American residential security market, today released its 2011 Home Security System Selection Advisory. As family travel increases during July and August, so do the number of burglaries, according to the FBI’s recently released Preliminary Annual Uniform Crime Report 2010. Even when families are at home, the tendency to leave doors and windows open during hotter weather can make a home more attractive to burglars, and more vulnerable to break-ins.

This makes choosing the right residential security system, and the right provider, a timely and valuable investment. Recent studies indicate that homes without security systems are almost three times more likely to be broken into, and incur greater financial and property losses from the burglaries they suffer. In addition, homes with security systems may qualify homeowners for extra deductions on their insurance premiums.

“Pinnacle recommends meeting face-to-face with trained and licensed security consultants so they can individually and visually assess the specific needs in a home-security system,” said Stuart Dean, Vice President of Corporate Communications, Pinnacle Security. “Safety and peace of mind is our primary concern for customers. We strongly urge homeowners to take the necessary steps when selecting a security system.”

Pinnacle Security advises homeowners to follow some important steps to ensure that they get the quality system they need, from a reputable provider they can trust, to properly secure their home.

Select your provider carefully: Right now, a lot of salespeople are going door-to-door to offer residential security systems, and you need to know you can trust them, and the company that employs them. Pinnacle Security provides its Rep Verification system so homeowners can instantly view a Pinnacle representative’s license status and verify their identification, simply by visiting the Pinnacle website.

Ensure you get the right system: Comprehensive, established security companies like Pinnacle Security offer a wide range of residential security solutions. A face-to-face meeting with a security consultant is recommended, so the consultant can visually assess your needs based on your home and neighborhood.
Make sure it works: Once you decide to invest in the security of your home, you want to make sure you’re getting the most reliable system you can. Pinnacle Security is an authorized dealer of GE Security, the North American leader of security, fire, automation, environmental monitoring, and medical emergency notification. In fact, Pinnacle’s new Image Sensor, a motion-activated security sensor, incorporates a built-in camera and transmits via a cellular connection, allowing customers mobile access to their system.

Find out what others think: Any company can tell you they’re great. What homeowners want is information from other users of the system you’re considering. For instance, Pinnacle posts testimonials on its website, and also polls its customers to assess their levels of satisfaction. Currently, our customers rate us four out of five stars in overall satisfaction, and an overwhelming majority say they would refer a friend to Pinnacle Security.

Know your rights: You have the right to change your mind, for any reason. In fact, the FTC’s Cooling-Off Rule means you have three business days to cancel if the contract does not meet your needs. Pinnacle Security goes further than this, offering homeowners over 70 years of age 30 days to use the system and decide how much they like it.

Pinnacle Security has implemented an industry-leading code of conduct, to create an effective personal and consultative sales approach, so our face-to-face security consultants can immediately assess customer needs and provide insight into choosing appropriate state-of-the-art security systems, a relationship model that drives the success of our business. For more information, please visit pinnaclesecurity.com.

Company Sends Volunteer Team to the Food & Care Coalition

OREM, UT–(Marketwire – Jul 6, 2011) – Pinnacle Security, a leader in the residential security industry, announced the successful completion of another service project from its Securing Hope philanthropic initiative that identifies and supports volunteerism opportunities for its employees across the country and around the world. Pinnacle provided a staff of volunteers from its corporate offices, who volunteered their time to serve lunch to community members in need in the company’s home community.

“The mission of the Securing Hope initiative is parallel to our company mission to provide security and peace of mind for our customers,” said Stuart Dean, Vice President of Corporate Communications. “It’s a natural extension of what we do at Pinnacle Security, helping our customers protect the things that matter most.”
Pinnacle’s volunteer staff prepared and served lunch at the Food & Care Coalition, a local organization dedicated to assisting those in need through the provision of meals, clothing, financial and health services among others. Pinnacle participated in a brief training session and then prepared and served the meal to the patrons of the Food & Care Coalition.

“At Food & Care Coalition, our mission to alleviate hunger and diminish poverty depends upon the commitment and charitable acts of individuals and organizations, like that received from Pinnacle Security,” said Brent Crane, Executive Director of Food & Care Coalition, LLC. “Pinnacle’s volunteers didn’t just provide a meal; they brought a measure of charity and a message of hope for each patron.”

“There are so many individuals and families that just need a little help right now, it was wonderful to spend the day serving them,” said Scott Johnson, Facilities Manager, Pinnacle Security. “This was a great opportunity to work in our own community and offer a little bit of help to those in need.”

Pinnacle’s Securing Hope initiative has been the vehicle for projects including sponsorship for Sustain Haiti, a local NGO dedicated to the rebuild efforts in Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas, building homes and installing electricity in homes in Honduras, working with clean-up crews following the tornadoes in St. Louis and many other similar projects in the communities where Pinnacle operates.

OREM, UT – June 9, 2011 – Pinnacle Security, a leader in the North American residential security market, today announced the launch of its Security Plus package. Bundling two-way voice communication, an emergency panic button, which can also be programmed to indicate a medical emergency, and the choice of either a smoke or carbon monoxide detector where appropriate, Security Plus delivers greater safety, convenience and communication to seniors.

Because the majority of alarms received at monitoring stations are medical alerts triggered by panic buttons, Security Plus is now offered as the standard for customers over age 70. Prior to the release of this feature, a customer’s inability to answer the phone, having triggered an alarm, would make it difficult to prepare emergency personnel for the situation prior to arrival.

“We are pleased to provide this service as a standard option for these customers,” said Kelly Walker, CEO, Pinnacle Security. “This suite of features, in combination with a 30 day trial period, allows our customers the best innovations and customer protections in the industry, letting seniors become familiar with the functionality of the services and giving them flexibility they want.”

Pinnacle Security’s alert service has already enabled thousands of individuals to get the medical assistance needed and this latest package will provide even more powerful options for security in the home. In addition, Pinnacle Security has extended the government mandated three day right of rescission to 30 days to ensure customers are comfortable with the operation of their new system.

“Pinnacle is sensitive to the needs of its customers and we strive to incorporate feedback into our products and services,” said Stuart Dean, Vice President of Corporate Communications, Pinnacle Security. “With Security Plus, we’re responding to the unique security needs of seniors, and delivering a package they themselves helped us customize.”

Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are offered in alignment with local licensing and installation requirements and may not be available in all areas. For more information about Security Plus, please visit www.pinnaclesecurity.com.

Pinnacle Employees Come Together to Help Makenna Scott Meet the Princesses at Disney World

OREM, UT–(Marketwire – Jun 6, 2011) – Pinnacle Security, a leader in the North American residential security market, today announced that its Securing Hope initiative, working with the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Kansas, has granted the wish of a young girl to meet Disney’s Princesses at the Florida theme parks in the coming months.

“We are so pleased to be able to work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas to make this child’s wish a reality,” said Stuart Dean, Vice President of Corporate Communications for Pinnacle Security. “Make-A-Wish is a wonderful organization with such a meaningful mission, it is a great match for our Securing Hope program to be able to grant a child’s wish and throw a party to celebrate.”

The Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Adopt-A-Wish program partners with corporations and organizations to grant wishes to the many children it serves. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas was chartered in 1984 and in the past 27 years has been able to grant over 1,090 wishes for children in Kansas.

“We are happy to partner with Pinnacle Security to grant Makenna’s wish,” said Ashley Scheideman, CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas. “Through the Adopt-A-Wish Program community-minded corporations, such as Pinnacle Security, are able to have an immediate and uplifting impact on the life of a child with a life-threatening medical condition.”

Pinnacle’s Securing Hope initiative enables the company and its employees to dedicate funds, time and resources to various causes in the U.S. and elsewhere. In this instance, the impetus came from McKay Selph, one of Pinnacle Security’s regional managers, who was moved to action when he heard Makenna’s story.

“Working within our community is very important to us and goes hand-in-hand with helping people protect their homes and families. It’s what we do,” said Selph. “But to be able to see the light in Makenna’s eyes when she found out her wish would come true… that was indescribable.”

Once Selph became involved with Make-A-Wish, 25 of Pinnacle’s West Kansas office security consultants, and their spouses, stepped in to help make the wish come true.

Selph continued, “I can’t imagine how difficult it would be for that family and we all wanted to do everything possible to help. The fact that Pinnacle has created a program to support this kind of initiative from employees and stepped up to sponsor the celebration party shows how seriously we feel about the communities we serve.”

At the Wish Celebration party, supporters from Pinnacle had the opportunity to meet the Scott family and present them with a check for $5,000. The event was held at the local public library in Dodge City, Kansas on the 26th of May.

Company’s Philanthropic Initiative, “Securing Hope,” to Raise Funds, Send Team to Aid in Hospital Construction

OREM, UT–(Marketwire – May 30, 2011) – Pinnacle Security, a leader in the North American residential security market, today announced that through its philanthropic initiative, “Securing Hope,” it will collaborate with Going Beyond Borders, an international nonprofit organization to raise funds to help build a hospital in western Kenya. Additionally, company volunteer teams will travel to Kenya in November to work on the construction of the building.

“Pinnacle, as a company, is dedicated to the cause of helping people secure the important things in their lives,” said Stuart Dean, Vice President of Corporate Communications, Pinnacle Security. “Through our Securing Hope program, we have been able to participate in relief efforts throughout the country and around the world in places like Missouri, Haiti, Honduras and now, Kenya. We are pleased to work with Going Beyond Borders to help build this hospital.”

Pinnacle Security will help raise funds through a variety of means including sponsored events, donations from employees, company representatives and the public, in addition to proceeds from its annual 5K run held every fall.

The new Elukhambi Hospital will replace a facility that closed recently, requiring people in the area to travel several hours to reach the nearest hospital, making minor accidents or injuries life-threatening events. The new building will house a full-service hospital that includes a radiology clinic as well as an eye center and dental center.

“Going Beyond Borders works to provide ongoing relief support to Africa in a variety of forms including education tools, livestock care, food and sporting equipment,” said Kate Brotherson, co-founder, Going Beyond Borders. “This new hospital will save lives that are at risk for a lack of access to simple medical care. This is a critical need for this area and we are pleased to have Pinnacle as a partner to help make this hospital a reality.”

Pinnacle Security’s “Securing Hope” program was introduced in the fall of 2010 and enables Pinnacle Security employees and representatives across the continent to make a positive impact in communities locally, nationally and internationally through commitment of time and resources.
