Pinnacle Employees Come Together to Help Makenna Scott Meet the Princesses at Disney World
OREM, UT-(Marketwire - Jun 6, 2011) - Pinnacle Security, a leader in the North American residential security market, today announced that its Securing Hope initiative, working with the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of Kansas, has granted the wish of a young girl to meet Disney’s Princesses at the Florida theme parks in the coming months.
“We are so pleased to be able to work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas to make this child’s wish a reality,” said Stuart Dean, Vice President of Corporate Communications for Pinnacle Security. “Make-A-Wish is a wonderful organization with such a meaningful mission, it is a great match for our Securing Hope program to be able to grant a child’s wish and throw a party to celebrate.”
The Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Adopt-A-Wish program partners with corporations and organizations to grant wishes to the many children it serves. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas was chartered in 1984 and in the past 27 years has been able to grant over 1,090 wishes for children in Kansas.
“We are happy to partner with Pinnacle Security to grant Makenna’s wish,” said Ashley Scheideman, CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas. “Through the Adopt-A-Wish Program community-minded corporations, such as Pinnacle Security, are able to have an immediate and uplifting impact on the life of a child with a life-threatening medical condition.”
Pinnacle’s Securing Hope initiative enables the company and its employees to dedicate funds, time and resources to various causes in the U.S. and elsewhere. In this instance, the impetus came from McKay Selph, one of Pinnacle Security’s regional managers, who was moved to action when he heard Makenna’s story.
“Working within our community is very important to us and goes hand-in-hand with helping people protect their homes and families. It’s what we do,” said Selph. “But to be able to see the light in Makenna’s eyes when she found out her wish would come true… that was indescribable.”
Once Selph became involved with Make-A-Wish, 25 of Pinnacle’s West Kansas office security consultants, and their spouses, stepped in to help make the wish come true.
Selph continued, “I can’t imagine how difficult it would be for that family and we all wanted to do everything possible to help. The fact that Pinnacle has created a program to support this kind of initiative from employees and stepped up to sponsor the celebration party shows how seriously we feel about the communities we serve.”
At the Wish Celebration party, supporters from Pinnacle had the opportunity to meet the Scott family and present them with a check for $5,000. The event was held at the local public library in Dodge City, Kansas on the 26th of May.
